How to open a pomegranate
We start by preparing a clean knife and give a circle around the top of the pomegranate with the knife. Take care to cut the pomegranate from the center, horizontally not vertically.
Next we take the cut half and gently knead and pat it around against the bowl. Then break off the top of this pomegranate directly with your hands, exposing the pomegranate seeds inside. Let the pomegranate flesh fall off naturally.
After we finished tapping, the flesh around the perimeter had basically fallen off. You can see the septum inside. Then we broke it apart in layers and continued tapping. Find the division between the various parts of the pomegranate inside and use a knife to cut the outer skin of the pomegranate along this division.
We cut open the pomegranate shell and then just break it all the way open with a little force directly with our hands.
Finally, we can prepare a small bowl and a spoon to loosen the pomegranate a little. Then invert the pomegranate over the bowl and tap the pomegranate slightly harder with the back of the spoon until all the seeds fall into the bowl and you're done. Wash the pulp with water so that it doesn't have the sticky mouth feeling from the juice breaking up when you eat it, and enjoy it with a big mouthful with a spoon.
