The frog (ha shi ma) belongs to Amphibia, Anura and Ranidae. China Heilongjiang Rana, also known as Hushma, Yellow Rana, Oil Rana, Red-bellied Frog and chinese forest frog, are rare wild animals unique to Changbai Mountain in northeast China. It is also recorded in China Pharmacopoeia, Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Handbook of Chinese Herbal Medicine, China Yaozhi, etc.: Oviductus Ranae oil moistens lung and nourishes yin, improves essence and marrow, strengthens kidney yang, tonifies brain and improves intelligence, delays aging, and is used for physical weakness, puerperal qi deficiency, tuberculosis and cough, endocrine disorders, etc. Modern medicine calls it "green soft gold" and it has been designated as a national second-class protected Chinese herbal medicine.
