What is the meaning of Pocky, Pacol?
Pocky (Japanese: ポッキー; English: Pocky) is a Japanese snack food produced by Ezaki Glico Co. The most traditional form of the Pocky Pocky logo

Pocky was released in 1966 under the name of Coquette and consisted of chocolate-covered cookie bars. Momiji instantly penetrated the youth market in Japan and generated 30 billion yen in sales in its first two years. The name was later changed to Pokkin, a Japanese onomatopoeia that mimics the sound made when biting into a Pokkin. The original flavor was followed by Almond Pokkin with an almond coating in 1971, and Strawberry Pokkin in 1977. Today the product includes variations such as milk, mango mousse, green tea and coconut flavored coatings, as well as themed products such as the Specialty Pokkin, which has a brightly colored decorative striped coating; and the Men's Pokkin, a sweet and bitter "mature" version of dark chocolate. The bagel is very popular in Japan. It is sometimes served with ice water in bars. The specialty is well known in many East Asian countries, such as China and South Korea. In Europe, Buckeye has been rebranded Mikado, following the game Mikado, and is marketed by LU Biscuits, a subsidiary of Kraft Foods Group. In the U.S. and Canada, Budge can be found in Asian supermarkets, most major international supermarkets such as Wal-Mart, and comic book distributors. In Malaysia, Biscuits has been renamed Rocky by Glico, avoiding the vulgarity of the same pronunciation in the Malay language. Outside of Japan, Momiji is well received by Hajime and Otaku (anime fans). Its regular community of Japanese-English speaking phenomena and some of its strange flavors (e.g., the bittersweet flavored Man's Pocky), as well as the many anime and manga series that often feature Pocky imitations, have also contributed to Pocky's popularity. Pocky was the first food brand listed in China by Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd. and was established in Shanghai in August 1999. After that, the company has launched a number of subordinate brands, such as Pocky, Paky, Bailey's, Bailey's, Vegetable Garden Cake, Kolon, Chitty, Star Chitty, Uncle Fran, Bubble Liqueur, Baiduobai, and Mousa. As the main brand of Glico in China, Bai Qi specializes in manufacturing decorated cookies, which are highly favored by consumers.

Edited Pronunciation

The Japanese pronunciation of Pocky rhymes to some extent with the Japanese pronunciation of hocky (pokkii vs. Japanese hokkii). It is somewhat like pokey which is slightly lengthened or held in front of the k. A repeated sub-sound in po and ky is indicated by an accelerated sound (the small 'tsu' kana). However, many English speakers pronounce it "paki", which rhymes with field hockey.
