Topography:
Spain's terrain is dominated by high plateaus, interspersed with mountain ranges. The highest point in the country is Mount Mourasen, which is 3,718 meters above sea level. The central Meseta Plateau is a mountain range surrounded by closed plateau, about 3/5 of the national area, the average altitude of 600 meters to 800 meters. To the north are the Cantabrian and Pyrenean mountain ranges, which stretch from east to west.
The Pyrenees are the boundary mountains between Spain and France, more than 430 kilometers long, with peaks over 3,000 meters above sea level. The highest point in Spain is in the southern Sierra Nevada, where the main peak, Mount Mourasen, at 3,478 meters, is the roof of the Iberian Peninsula.
Because of the proximity of the mountains to the coast, the plains are few and narrow, and the only ones that are wider are the Ebro Valley in the northeast and the Andalusian Plain in the southwest.
