What is quicksand?
The formation of quicksand is varied. The main reason is that the sand layer formed by the alluvial of river water has undergone geological changes. In the case of water flow, the whole sand layer flows, thus forming the quicksand layer. There are also quicksand layers along the Yangtze River, some areas along the Huaihe River and Dangshan and Xiaoxian counties in our province. Flowing sand, as the name implies, is flowing sand, which is mainly because sand meets water underground. When the pressure of water changes, water flows, so sand flows with water. Under normal circumstances, the groundwater pressure is constant, but once the water pressure changes, the whole sand layer will change with it.

In A.D. 1692, the Jamaican port of royle experienced the tragedy of quicksand caused by soil liquefaction caused by earthquake, which finally caused one third of the city to disappear and 2,000 people to die. The seemingly calm northern sea of England and the beautiful and dangerous Alaskan fjord have also had stories of quicksand trapping people. However, most people have never seen quicksand, let alone witnessed others fall into quicksand or experienced it personally. People's impressions of quicksand are mainly based on various movies. In the scenes created by movies, quicksand is a big monster that can suck people into a bottomless pit. Once people are trapped in it, they often can't extricate themselves, and their companions can only watch the trapped people being swallowed up by sand in an instant.
