Rosewood, scientific name, Dalbergia odorifera; Huang Huali, alias pear mother, is a species of Dalbergia in Platycladaceae.

It has a wide range of uses and its wood value is quite high. It is a precious tree species unique to Hainan, distributed in hilly areas of Hainan Island or in low-altitude plains and terraces. The heartwood of rosewood is reddish brown or purplish red brown, but it will turn dark red after a long time, often containing dark brown stripes, shiny and fragrant.
