3 Overview

jisheng shenqi wan is the name of the formula, i.e., jia wei ren qi wan, which is from Yan's Jisheng Fang, Volume 4 [1].

The main ingredients of the proprietary Chinese medicine Jisheng Kidney Qi Pill are Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum (made), Mudan Pi, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Poria, Zelenoides, Cinnamon, Radix Polygoni Multiflori (made), Hyssop, and Psyllium Hirsutum [2]. It has the efficacy of warming kidney and transforming qi, inducing diuresis and eliminating swelling. It is used for kidney deficiency and edema caused by insufficient kidney yang and internal storage of water and dampness, soreness and heaviness of waist and knees, unfavorable urination, phlegm and cough.

The Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (2010 edition) has recorded the pharmacopoeial standard of Jisheng Kidney Qi Pill.

5 Ingredients

Two shelled epiphyllums, two each of Poria cocos, Zedoary, Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum, fried yam, Plantago Ovata Seed (steamed in wine), and Mudan Pi, one each of Guan Gui, Szechuan Cow's Knee (steeped in wine), and half-two of ripened Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata[3].

8.3 Method of Preparation
