There is some misunderstanding that the case of the lighthouse jellyfish is not one of immortality, but one that should theoretically be immortal. The lighthouse jellyfish is only 4-5mm in diameter, which is very small. The body is transparent, the red stomach inside is visible at a glance, and their genome is very simple. They are carnivores and feed on plankton, crustaceans, polychaetes and small fish. By sexually reproducing by shooting sperm into the sea, the jellyfish has the opportunity to reproduce. In addition, it can transform into polyps (i.e., babies) to reproduce asexually, which is known as rearing.

1. Is the lighthouse jellyfish poisonous?
The lighthouse jellyfish is poisonous.
Jellyfish are one of the most toxic marine organisms, especially box jellyfish. If poisoned, it can lead to death if not treated urgently within 0-4 minutes.
According to a survey, tens of thousands of jellyfish are injured by jellyfish in China every year. These patients may experience symptoms such as reddened skin, swelling or muscle pain for a short period of time. In severe cases, the patients may suffer from breathing difficulties, shock or even death. This is all caused by jellyfish venom.

2. What if I get stung by a lighthouse jellyfish?
(1) Remove the tentacles: First, if the jellyfish's tentacles are still hanging on the skin, try to remove them, but make sure the injured person does not move, wear gloves to remove them under certain conditions, or gently remove the tentacles from the skin with thick clothes, tweezers, sticks, etc.
(2) Rinse with seawater:Rinsing the stinging area with seawater again can inhibit the activity of the undischarged stinging cells on the skin, such as fresh water has the opposite effect. Any move that alters the balance of solution salt concentration inside and outside the stinging cells may stimulate the stinging sacs to discharge and release more venom.
(3) Scraping the cells:If possible, gently separate the stinging cells from the skin with a knife or something like a razor or card, and coat them with shaving foam or soap lather before scraping. Then wash with sea water, vinegar or salt water after shaving.
(4) Taking medication:Finally, let the stung area dry naturally, take an antihistamine such as benadryl or apply hydrocortisone cream, and clean open wounds and apply antibiotic ointment every day in follow-up treatments to prevent bacterial infection.
