When Liang Shanbo visited Zhu Yingtai in Shangyu, he found out that his friend who had been classmate for three years was actually Hongzhuang and wanted to propose marriage to the Zhu family. At this time, Zhu Yingtai was betrothed to Ma Wencai.
Later, Liang Shanbo passed away due to excessive depression when he was the county magistrate in Yin. When Zhu Yingtai was getting married, she passed Liang Shanbo's tomb. Suddenly a strong wind blew up, impeding the progress of the wedding procession. Zhu Yingtai got off her sedan chair and went to worship in front of Liang Shanbo's tomb. Liang Shanbo's tomb collapsed and cracked, and Zhu Yingtai threw herself into the grave. , then a pair of colorful butterflies emerged from the grave, and both flew away and left the world.
