Strong body, olive green. Male fish will turn blue during the breeding season, and the metallic blue in the center of each fish makes the fish look particularly bright. There are blue markings on the head, especially under the eyes and on the gill cover. The dorsal fin and anal fin of male fish extend in a filiform shape. Body length is about 16 cm.
Habitat in turbid still water or clear open water, carnivorous, with insects, crustaceans, worms and so on.
