Rootstock is long and transverse, densely rusty yellow pilose. Leaves sparse, petiole brown or brown stalk color, broad triangle or rectangular triangle, tapering, rounded wedge-shaped at the base, three-pinnate, papery or leathery after drying, and smooth at the top. The rhizome can be used for fiber and food, and the tender leaves are edible, called bracken, and the whole plant is used as medicine.
