The number of fish that can be raised in one acre of fish pond depends on many factors, including fish species, fish size, breeding technology, water depth, water quality and pond type. The following are the breeding densities of different fish species in one acre of fish ponds:

1. Mainly grass carp farming. One acre of fish pond can be stocked with 400 to 600 grass carp, mixed with 200 silver carp and 50 carp.

2. Mainly carp farming. One acre of fish pond can stock 300 carp fry, 80 silver carp fry, and about 20 bighead carp fry.

3. Mainly crucian carp farming. One acre of fish pond can raise 1,500 to 2,000 crucian carp, mixed with 250 other fish.

4. Mainly Wuchang fish breeding. One acre of fish pond can stock 1,000 bream fry weighing 50 grams each, along with 150 silver carp fry and 50 bighead carp fry.
