Plant morphology Hypericum japonicum
Perennial, clustered herbs, height10 ~ 80 cm. The culms are erect and slender. Leaf blade is flat, linear-lanceolate, 2 ~ 4 cm long,1~ 3 mm wide, the apex is tapering, and both sides and edges are somewhat hairy; The leaf sheath is bald and the scabbard mouth is hairy. The spike is solitary at the top of the main stem and branches, soft and slightly curved, with a length of1.5 ~ 3 cm; The rachis is slender, the internodes are very short, and the tips of the nodes are thick and truncated by eyelashes; Spikelets in pairs, one stalk, no stalk, less than 2 mm long; The hair of the base plate is about the same length as or over the spikelet; The apex of the first glume is truncated or * * *, covered with eyelashes; The second glume is slightly longer than the first glume, with rough ridge, eyelash at the apex, 2-toothed, awned, straight or curved, golden yellow, and10 ~15mm long; The lemma of infertile floret is present or absent, linear and smooth, and the palea is absent; There is a crack in the middle of the lemma of the fruiting floret, and the lobes are lashed and awned, which is similar to that of the second glume, but slightly longer; Stamens 1, anthers some small, some as long as 1 mm; Style 2, stigma brush-like, ca. 1 mm. Born by rivers, crevices in walls, hillsides and wet wilderness. Distributed in Zhejiang, Taiwan Province, Fujian, Guangdong, Yunnan, Sichuan, Hunan, Jiangxi and other places.
Collect in autumn, dry in the sun or use fresh.
Chemical constituents include flavonoid glycosides, phenols, amino acids, organic acids and sugars.
