Distributed in South China, Southwest China, Fujian, Zhejiang; also found in India and Malaysia.
Biological and ecological characteristics
It is born in the shady and moist places of mountain slopes and valleys, or in the understory of forests. Its reproductive period, in the natural state of growth in central and northern Fujian, about 180 days, the growing period of more than 260 days, and in the south of the center, the lowest temperature in winter above 0 ℃, then almost no yellowing period, to maintain the green all year round, but the reproductive period is still about 190 days.
According to the results of the introduction of cultivation trials in 1981-1982 in Sanming City and Jianyang County by the Pasture Research Office of Fujian Agricultural College, its fertility status is shown in Table 34-1.

Palm-leaved dogwood mainly relies on seed reproduction, but the germination rate is low, and in the year of sowing, the growth of seedlings is relatively slow, and it is not easy to cover the ground quickly when sown singly, so it is better to take a mixed sowing when establishing artificial grassland. Experiments have proved that it is more ideal to mix with Matang. The fresh grass yield of single sowing is 5230.55kg/mu, and the mixed sowing reaches 6191.98kg/mu, which increases the yield by 20%. But the seed propagation site is preferred to use single sowing, easy to harvest seeds.
The regenerative power of brown-leaved dogwood is stronger, and it can be mowed 3-4 times a year, and the yield of the plot test, each time the fresh grass yield is 1000-2500kg/mu.
The brown-leaved dogwood prefers a warm and humid climate. It also has a certain degree of drought resistance and cold tolerance. In the northern part of Fujian Province, the lowest winter temperature of minus 9 ℃, can successfully overwinter. The soil fertilizer requirements are not strict, suitable for cultivation in the southern red soil or yellow soil areas. If under good water and fertilizer conditions, growth is vigorous and grass production is high. And in the barren, dry soil erosion areas, can also be normal growth and development. However, the grass yield and seed production are lower, and the stems and leaves age faster. Regardless of the cultivation conditions, no pests or diseases have been found.
