At present, the life span of the longest-lived turtle in the world is only over 200 years old, and the life span of tortoises may reach nearly 200 years old. Although the tortoise has a long life span, it is generally within 300 years old.
Turtles have always been regarded as a symbol of longevity, and there is always a saying among the people that a thousand years will last for 80,000 years. Tortoise is an animal with slow metabolism and strong heart ability. It also has a carapace as protection. Compared with humans and other animals, it lives longer, and it is really long-lived. It can live for decades, and a long-lived tortoise can live for hundreds of years.
Life characteristics of turtles
Turtles are semi-aquatic, semi-terrestrial reptiles, mainly inhabiting rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds and other waters. Most of them stay in the water during the day and come out at night. When the enemy is hurt or frightened, he will shrink his head, limbs and tail into the shell.
Tortoise is a temperature-changing animal. When the water temperature rises to 15℃, it will come out to move, and the water temperature starts to feed at 18-20℃. Turtles are afraid of heat. When the temperature reaches above 20℃, they will hide in deep-water mud. When it is hot in summer, they will look for shade in groups. When the temperature drops below 10℃, the turtle will lie still in the mud or covered loose soil at the bottom of the water and go into hibernation to resist the cold.
Turtles are omnivorous animals, and their feeding habits are miscellaneous. They feed on insects, worms, small fish and shrimps, tender leaves of plants, duckweed, rice and weed seeds. Turtles have a strong hunger tolerance and will not starve to death if they don't eat for months.
