The tea used in the Third Battalion is generally green tea, and the Third Battalion refers to the tea covered with a bowl, which is a traditional tea drinking custom of people in Sichuan and other places. It is a tea set with a lid on the top, a bowl in the middle and a tray on the bottom, also known as the "three-talent bowl". Gaiwancha originated in Sichuan in the Tang Dynasty, and prevailed in the capital, nobles, court royal families and elegant teahouses in the Qing Dynasty.

"Gaiwancha" was first invented and unique in Chengdu. The so-called "Gaiwancha" includes three parts: a tea cover, a tea bowl and a tea boat, so it is called Gaiwancha or the Three Batteries.
