Pinyin name Gǔ Niǔ Cai

alias Caulis Brassicae Capitatae, Caulis Crocodactylis (Flora of Guangzhou), Caulis Hedysarum, Caulis Solani Thunb, Caulis Sapii Thunb, and Fructus Aurantii (Fujian Chinese Herbal Medicine).

The source is the whole grass of Solanaceae plant Solanum nigrum. Harvest in spring, summer and autumn.

The original form is an annual erect herb, with branches, bald or nearly bald, and the height is about 1m. The stems are slender and green. Simple leaves alternate, ovate to oblong, 4 ~ 8 cm long, tapering at the apex and mucronate at the base. The edge is nearly entire, or has irregular angular coarse teeth, thin, dark green on the top, with small spots, light green on the bottom, and the veins are raised on the back of the leaves; Petiole slender, about 1 cm long. Inflorescence peduncle axillary, 1 ~ 2.5 cm long, delicate; 2 ~ 5 flowers arranged in umbels; Calyx green, 5-lobed, lobes ovate; Corolla white, 6 ~ 8 mm in diameter; Stamens 5, inserted on the crown and throat, anthers glued into a cone, apical fissure; Ovary 2-loculed, ovules numerous. Fruit is spherical and fleshy, about 5 mm in diameter, green when young and black when mature. Flowering in summer and autumn.
