In the battle of Gaixia, Xiang Yu was surrounded by Liu Bang's army, and at night, the songs of Chu rang out from all sides, which made Xiang Yu alarmed, thinking that the Chu land had been occupied by Liu Bang and feeling that the situation was unfavorable. Seeing this, Yu Ji suggested Xiang Yu to drink wine and sing in order to comfort him. However, Xiang Yu became more worried after drinking wine and singing, and finally chose to break out with his 800 brave soldiers.
On the eve of the breakout, Yu Ji killed herself so as not to be a burden to Xiang Yu. Xiang Yu and his 800 soldiers succeeded in breaking through the siege after Yu Ji's death, but were eventually killed by the Han army when they were about to cross the Wu River. This story shows the deep love between Xiang Yu and Yu Ji, as well as their tragic fate in the war.
Life story of Xiang Yu:
After Xiang Yu killed Song Yi, he was so powerful and famous in Chu that he dispatched the Dangyang ruler Ying Bu and General Pu to cross the river with 20,000 soldiers, and attacked Zhang Han's canal that was transporting grain to Wang Li's army several times, but with little success, Zhao general Chen Yu sent to Xiang Yu to ask him to send troops again. Xiang Yu crossed the river with all his soldiers and horses, and fought with the Qin army nine times. Zhang Han broke away and Xiang Yu led his army to continue his northward attack on Wang Li.
The Chu soldiers fought one against ten, and their cries moved to the sky. After defeating Zhang Han, the army of the vassals was greatly encouraged, and they attacked Wang Li with Xiang Yu, killing Su Jiao and capturing Wang Li alive, and the Qin general Shibu Ma committed suicide because he didn't want to surrender. After defeating the Qin army, Xiang Yu summoned the vassal generals at the Yuan Gate. All the generals came kneeling down and did not dare to look up to Xiang Yu. Xiang Yu was then the superior general of the vassals, and all the vassals submitted to him.
