When I was in school, I usually went home to rest during holidays such as winter and summer vacations; after all, I only went home twice a year when I was studying in a foreign country; so I usually stayed at home to accompany my parents and go shopping. Go shopping, eat, or take a short trip for a few days.

If it is a holiday like Golden Week, you usually choose to travel during off-peak hours; after all, there are too many people traveling around in the past few days. I remember when I took my mother to Chengdu last year, when we were returning from visiting the panda base, traffic was controlled; the tour bus could not enter, and we could not get out by car; we waited there for more than two hours. Therefore, traveling during the Golden Week holiday means just watching the crowds of people and enjoying very little.

If the holiday is shorter, like New Year's Day or May Day, which is a three-day holiday, I might just stay at home and rest for two days; then choose a sunny day to go hiking or cycling. Greenways have been built in many places now, which are especially suitable for leisure exercise. If you have more time, you may make an appointment to meet up with old friends to chat and reminisce about your youth.

On weekends after work, I really don’t want to go anywhere. I just lie down and sleep after a week’s work; but since I can’t rest, I usually choose to do cleaning on weekends, sweeping the dust in the corners of my house. Clean the kitchen fumes, wash clothes and dry the quilts.
