During the Qin and Han Dynasties in China, people were accustomed to sitting on the ground. After the pork is cooked in the wok, the meat is taken out with a dagger and placed on a cutting board. This board is called Zu. Move it to the table, cut it with a knife and eat it. The knife and the knife are indispensable, so they are used as a metaphor for the slaughterer. "Hongmen Banquet" said: "Nowadays, people are just swordsmen, and I am fish and meat." Xiang Yu saw that Fan Kuai was tall and brave, so he not only "gave him wine", but also "gave him pig shoulders". "Fan Kuai put his shield on the ground, put it on his shoulder, drew his sword, cut it and ate it." At that time, Fan Kuai entered the camp. His status was low, so he had no chance to sit at the table, so he had to use his shield as a shield and his sword instead of a sword. Drink wine and eat big chunks of meat. It is not difficult to see that the "Hongmen Banquet" is actually a banquet based on barbecue, a political dinner for leaders in the nature of a military camp picnic.
It is said that Liu Bang likes to eat barbecue. At that time, when he was serving as the chief of Sishui Pavilion in Pei County, he escorted prisoners to serve in Lishan Mountain. Someone gave him a pot of wine, roasted deer tripe and beef liver. Liu Bang, who was good at wine and loved barbecue, had a lot to eat, and he never forgot about it. Later, when he was the emperor, he served food in the morning and evening, and often had these two grills. However, at the "Hongmen Banquet", although there was " Liu Bang, who was deeply aware of the dangers, would taste barbecue delicacies like pig shoulder.
In "Hongmen Banquet", although Sima Qian cherished words like gold, in addition to leaving records of wine and food such as "卮wine" and "彘shoulder", he also described the scene of "wine fighting". Fan Kuai went to see Xiang Yu. King Xiang said, "Strong man, I will give him some wine." Then he fought with him on wine. Kuai thanks, stand up, and drink. It is not difficult to imagine that in those war-torn years, wine was an aphrodisiac for killing each other on the battlefield. Both the murderer and the murdered would use wine to increase their pride and courage. In a life-and-death banquet like the "Hongmen Banquet", where a single move can affect the whole body, the power of wine is particularly powerful. Therefore, at the "Hongmen Banquet", although both parties secretly have their own agendas, they must not drink less wine, and there is no reason not to drink good wine. Therefore, Sima Qian's "Hongmen Banquet" left the historical allusion of "wine fighting and pig shoulder fighting" for future generations.
