Who is Xu Fu
Xu Fu, whose name is Jun Fang, was born in Qi State during the Warring States Period and is a famous party in history.
He was sent by the first emperor who was eager to find immortality medicine, but he led 3111 boys and girls and a number of craftsmen and soldiers to disappear into the vast sea, which has since become a permanent puzzle in history books.
Of course, the movie is not about Xu Fu in history.
Xu Fu in the film only uses this name, expressing the same meaning of seeking eternal life.
Xu Fu, played by Park Bo Gum, is not a human being in a narrow sense, but rather a "living animal", just like pigs and mice that often appear in the laboratory.
But in a broad sense, Xu Fu is a person, and he is just a successful case of cloning.
He is no different from ordinary people. He has his own mood and mode of thinking, and he has rich emotions.
However, he must be kept in the laboratory for 365 days a year, obediently obey human instructions like an animal, and provide cells that can live forever indefinitely.
Xu Fu has been living in the laboratory since he was born. He is pure and kind. He knows the reason why his mother created himself and the value of his existence is to draw blood for others. Every day, besides physical examination, he reads books and eats.
The best food I have ever eaten in my life is three cups of instant noodles that the special agent gave him in the process of protecting him.
and the happiest moment is to put on a suit of human clothes and shoes.
He wore those shoes until the final decisive battle before his death.
But as an independent-minded person, he longs for his own life and dreams, and he also hopes that his life is meaningful and purposeful.
However, in the world where he grew up, no one regarded him as an adult except his mother and agents, but regarded him as a pig from which human beings could get insulin.
In this way, people are at their mercy day after day, and the only struggle is to force agents to take themselves to church to see their "father" and their dead "self".
finally, he chose to let the agent take himself back to the lab.
however, in order to protect him and let him have his own life, his mother chose to confront the president of the chaebol, but she died in the end.
When he saw his mother's death, he lost his hope as a "person". For him, he had lost the value and significance of living, and he also understood that his survival could only bring endless disasters, so he finally chose death to end all disputes.

Science fiction is short of philosophy.
In the film, Xu Fu, who has a special gene, can control the air pressure to achieve the effect of moving objects from space. Researchers have repeatedly mentioned that his stem cells can cure all human diseases.
But the latter has only become a stunt, and the ability to cure diseases is not reflected in even one lens, while the immortal Xu Fu needs to inject inhibitory drugs every day to survive.
such a "high-risk person" is certainly threatened by villains.
American forces believe that the eternal life brought by Xu Fu's technology will lead to the extinction of mankind, so they want to destroy Xu Fu.
The South Korean Intelligence Agency first cooperated with the chaebol to develop Xu Fu, but was forced by the US to rebel and decided to kill Xu Fu. The agent played by Gong Yoo was originally a subordinate of the Intelligence Agency.
The duplicitous image of the government is really an old Korean film routine, and this is by no means the worst time to be hacked.
The chaebol, the last third force, is the main force to develop Xu Fu, who will live for a long time, so he is extremely eager to live forever. This eternal issue related to life and death is also the core contradiction of the film.
Seeing that it is quite confusing here, Xu Fu, an action and sci-fi genre, seems to abandon the scenes of genre movies and sublimate to philosophical thinking.
as expected, this grand topic can't be brought back.
Min Jixian, played by Gong Yoo, watched the Intelligence Bureau kill his former colleague for fear of death.
Because Xu Fu can treat his malignant tumor, he chose to protect him.
This represents people's fear of death.
The president of the chaebol developed Xu Fu for immortality, while the scientist Lin Shien wanted to revive his dead son, so he joined the research and contributed his DNA.
The above reflects people's desire for life.
Death was originally an absolute equality, but the technology of immortality broke this balance.
American forces and the anti-Korean intelligence agency put forward that if people lose their lives, they will only have greed and desire, and eventually they will go to destruction.
do they represent kindness and justice? I think not.
It is precisely because the technology of eternal life is not in their hands that there is a change in the movie that first takes away Xu Fu and then decides to kill him.
At the end of the film, Xu Fu chooses to sacrifice himself to free others. When he loses eternal life, he also tells everyone the value of death.
Death is a part of life. Without death, we lose hope of struggle.
The philosophical discussion of life and death in Xu Fu only stays at the level of lines, and the design of the whole plot has not been better integrated into the expression. We will feel the constant escalation of brotherhood between Min Jixian and Xu Fu, but we have never seen more profound content from beginning to end.
On the other hand, the expression of bionic human nature in blade runner forty years ago is really far from perfect.

Is it worth seeing
As an action movie, the sci-fi background setting of Xu Fu has become dispensable.
The sci-fi elements in the film remain at a superficial level.
The objects that have been rotting in the streets can't meet the needs of science fiction lovers.
superficial lines are immature again.
despite the high box office, the word-of-mouth is not satisfactory.
the score of douban has dropped to 6.1 after it was scored.
If there is anything else to watch in the movie, the face values of the two male gods can still be played very well.
The story of Wenxi also gives the audience a certain sense of substitution by the acting skills of Kong Liu and Park Bo Gum online.
Gong Yoo, as a national treasure actor of the new generation in Korea, has participated in many high-scoring films and contributed many classic screen images, but his role in Chui Fu really doesn't have much room to play.
Park Bo Gum has even participated in "Please Answer 1988", the highest score in Korean dramas and films, and has become a national idol.
Young-su Lee, the director of this film, once served as the deputy director of memories of murder and has rich experience.
At the same time, Chui Fu is also the first synchronized movie in Korea, and its screening form is of epoch-making significance in Korea.
Korean movies such as Victory, Hunting Time and Night in Paradise have also skipped the cinema and directly entered Netflix, but it is the first time that the cinema and OTT)TVING are synchronized.
In a word, the much-anticipated Xu Fu is not satisfactory, but fans are still worth seeing for the sake of two male gods!
Although Chui Fu is the first Korean action science fiction movie about eternal life, such content is very common in European and American movies, and the setting of human cloning is a story that many Hollywood blockbusters have already filmed.
Before the movie, I had great expectations and fantasies about Chui Fu. I thought it would be a sci-fi masterpiece with a name in Korean film history, but disappointment was accompanied by expectations.
