The Historical Evolution of Yayao Town
In the first year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (1862), a tile kiln was set up, which was later renamed Yayao. From the Republic of China to the early days of the People's Republic of China, the first district was changed, 1953 changed to Yayao Township, 1958 changed to commune, 1983 changed to district, and 1987 set up a town. 1996, with an area of 82.3 square kilometers and a population of 28,000, governs six administrative districts (administrative villages) including Yayao, Nanjing, Kundong, Gelang, Huangdong, Chen Shan, Shihu, Gushan, Guqiao, Dagang, Shangnan and Liangjian and 1 neighborhood committee.
