Topography and landforms: Penghu's volcanic activity and crustal movement have created Penghu's wonderful geological landscape. Undersea volcanoes erupted basalt flows, and after many changes in the sea level, basalt columnar rocks, sea erosion platforms, etc. were eroded.
According to research by geologists, the rocks of the Penghu Islands are lava platforms composed of basalt flows. After millions of years of seawater erosion and the lifting and lowering of the rock plate, today's landforms were formed.
