In fact, we set out for the food: the original plan was to first taste the wild mushroom hot pot in Nanhua County, and secondly, we also wanted to go to Dayao County to buy some fresh walnuts.
After starting from Chuxiong City, we walked northwest for a short section of the expressway and then turned into a provincial highway.
It took us about 40 minutes to arrive at Nanhua County. Seeing that it was still early for lunch, we decided to continue heading north.
After a while, I noticed that several street signs said Guanglu Ancient Town.
But what we were thinking about were the delicious local specialties, and sightseeing was not our purpose.
I asked my husband about Guanglu Ancient Town. He was not familiar with it, but he remembered that Yao'an County used to be the state capital of Chuxiong. It must be a place with a long history!
The Military and Civilian General Administration Office on Yao'an Road is located at one end of the square. This compound was built in the Yuan Dynasty.
The square in front of the door is very wide, and the white sunlight pierces people so much that they have to squint.
Compared with the crowded popular attractions during the festival, this place is not only not crowded, but also very deserted.
Out of curiosity, I checked it out on Baidu. The main introduction is as follows: Guanglu Town has outstanding people and celebrities. The Gao family once had "Nine Cools, Seven Dukes and Eight Prime Ministers, Three Kings, One Emperor and Five Marquises". The story emerged.
Gao Yiying, Zhao Zixiang, Ma Siliang, Zhao Heqing and other famous bachelors (unfortunately, I am ignorant and have never heard of any of them).
Within the territory are the Longhua Temple, which was built during the Tianyou period of the Tang Dynasty, the Yao'an Road Military and Civilian Office established in the Yuan Dynasty, the Wenchang Palace, the Sanfeng Temple, and the Gao Xuejun Temple, which combines Chinese and Western styles.
The "Eight Guanglu Scenes" in history: "Looking for spring in the Buddhist temple, Fengxiu pear, new willows on the bridge, exploring the secluded Buddhist temple, sunset in Gaotuo, night moon in the mirror shed, looking out at night from the top of the Ying Dynasty, and admiring the osmanthus in the west" are fascinating.
Crossing the square and passing an archway gate, we entered the streets of the ancient town.
There are roads paved with bluestone slabs and a small canal planted with water hyacinths. The whole ancient town looks antique, but the vermilion gate and the blue tiles and white walls all look brand new. They must have been renovated.
Because we were thinking about going to Nanhua to eat mushrooms, we did not continue to visit other scenic spots in the ancient town. We also gave up the plan to go to Dayao to buy walnuts, and turned back south to worship the five internal organs.
Postscript: There are many ancient towns in Yunnan, but Guanglu Ancient Town in Yao'an is the only one that has been dubbed "a Yaozhou city, half of the history of Yunnan".
As a famous historical and cultural town in Yunnan for thousands of years, it is like a recorder of Yunnan's thousands of years of changes. It records the rise and fall of the Dali Kingdom and also leaves behind the glory of the Gao family.
When you walk into Guanglu Ancient Town, you will find that every inch of land here hides a little secret of Yunnan history.
The above is the slogan of Guanglu Ancient Town. Under the bright sunshine that day, my eyes did not find any secrets.
But since it is such a thousand-year-old town, there must be many secrets waiting for you to explore and discover...
