1. Shanfengyuan: Shanfengyuan is also called Shanfenwan and Mantanghong.
Mix mountain starch and taro into the chicken marinade, add minced meat and condiments and mix well, put it into a steamer and cook until cooked, then cut into slices, strips or cubes before eating.
The authentic mountain powder is fern root powder, followed by arrowroot powder, and now sweet potato powder is mostly used.
2. Huang rice cake: Huang rice cake is made by burning a unique shrub in the Songyang Mountains into ashes, draining the juice, and soaking high-quality stem rice until it turns beige and orange. Rinse and steam it, then pound it into a ball in a stone mortar.
Then cut it into small pieces, and while it's hot, knead it into flat rounds or long strips.
The yellow rice cake is crystal clear in color, has a pleasant fragrance, is soft and delicious.
Stir-fried with shredded pork, green vegetables, winter bamboo shoots, etc., it has the best color and taste. It is a delicacy for traditional folk festivals in Songyang or for entertaining distinguished guests.
3. Yellow rice crackers: burn a special shrub in the mountains to ashes, drain the juice, soak in high-quality stemmed rice until it turns beige-orange, rinse and steam, pound into balls in a stone mortar, then cut into small pieces, and mash while hot.
Knead it into an oblate or long shape.
Yellow with green in it, crystal clear color, pleasant fragrance, tender and delicious.
Stir-fried with shredded pork, green vegetables, winter bamboo shoots, etc., the color and taste are better. It is a traditional food for folk festivals or for entertaining distinguished guests in Songyang, Suichang, Longquan, Qingyuan, Jingning and other counties.
4. Songyang Pancakes: Songyang Pancakes Eating pancakes during the Dragon Boat Festival is one of Songyang’s traditional dietary customs.
Songyang's pancakes are famous for their thin skin and fine fillings. During the Dragon Boat Festival, people often use shredded fungus, mushrooms, daylily, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, cucumbers, equinox beans, dried tofu, fried eggs, pork, snail heads, etc.
Cut into cubes, stir-fry and cook, then bake into a thin round crust with flour and water, put various fillings on it, and roll the crust into a bamboo tube shape as food.
Pancakes can now be made all year round and are one of the most local snacks in Songyang.
5. Songyang Sugar Cake: Folks in Songyang have the custom of making sugar cake during the Chinese New Year.
Mix the best glutinous rice flour with brown sugar and water, then sprinkle the brown sugar, osmanthus, sesame seeds, etc. into the rice flour, stir evenly, and steam it in a steamer covered with Ruo leaves.
The finished sugar cake is dark red in color, sweet and delicious. Some people put paste made of fresh mugwort leaves into the rice noodles, and the resulting cake is green in color, also known as green cake.
