Wenquan Town has a long history. It was founded in the early Western Han Dynasty and is called Wentang. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was a hunting ground for the emperor. In the Sui Dynasty, Wenquan Town and Mamu were set up, and in the Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Wentang, also known as Tangwang Street. In the sixth year of Jin Zhenglong (AD 1161), it became Wenquan Street. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, it belonged to Renyili. After liberation, it was under the jurisdiction of ten districts and two districts, and then returned to the temple to go to the countryside. In September, 1975, Wenquan Town Commune was established. In January, 1984, it was changed to Wenquan Town. In 1988, it was withdrawn from the township to build a town. In 1993, it was determined by the Ruzhou Municipal Government as a special experimental zone for reform and opening up in Ruzhou City. In 25, the administrative division was adjusted, and 12 administrative villages were zoned from Linru Town to Wenquan Town, bringing the total number of administrative villages in the town to 25, making it a medium-sized township in Ruzhou.

Wenquan Town has fertile soil and abundant water resources. More than 9% of the land in the town can be effectively irrigated, and the main crops are wheat, corn and peanuts, which provides superior conditions for the development of "one excellent and two high" agriculture. Especially through the efforts of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, two key investment projects, namely Ruzhou Hot Spring Sightseeing and Medical Theme Park invested by Taiwanese businessmen and Ruzhou Hot Spring International Tourism Resort City invested by Fujian businessmen, were successfully settled in hot springs and started construction. After the two projects are completed and put into operation, it is estimated that more than 2, jobs will be provided. By then, with a large number of tourists coming for sightseeing and vacation, the tertiary industry such as shopping, catering, entertainment and leisure will develop rapidly. Based on this, the hot spring community project with a planned area of 34 mu and a total construction area of 23, square meters, which can accommodate 1,63 households with 7, people in the towns and surrounding hot springs, Luozhuang, Zhailou, Fuling and Juntian villages, will also start construction.
