In today's Evernight City of the Tang Dynasty, the lights are still shining brightly, but the streets are empty?

The first time I knew about the Everlasting City of the Tang Dynasty was when I saw it on Douyin. The lights were bright and the people were buzzing. It was like the prosperous Tang Dynasty. There was also a beautiful roly-poly lady with graceful and exquisite dancing. Her makeup and every look and smile are fascinating. Due to a business trip, I finally went to this prosperous place last week, but the scene was completely different.

Datang Evernight City is located at the foot of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Yanta District, Xi'an City. It starts from the South Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the north and ends at the ruins of the Tang City Wall in the south. The block is 2,100 meters long from north to south. The straight central axis looks like a giant dragon sleeping in the sky. The city of Xi'an is extremely spectacular when viewed from a high altitude.

It was about 8 pm when we arrived at the Evernight City. All we saw along the way were imitation Tang Dynasty buildings. On the high city wall was a unique and majestic attic. Red lanterns were hung on the turrets. The bottom city wall They are all made of red building materials, with distinct roots. Under the light, they emit a blood-red light, making people involuntarily feel a sense of reverence.

Putting down my luggage, with excitement, I thought I was about to travel back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty and have a glimpse of the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty, but the reality was empty. Starting from the North Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, it can be regarded as a "netizen rush". The previous performances have ended, and the food shops on both sides are also closed. Only the majestic sculpture belt in the middle is as powerful as a rainbow. From the Buddhist culture of the Tang Dynasty, The portraits of the heroes of the Tang Dynasty, the rule of Zhenguan, Empress Wu's followers, and the prosperous Kaiyuan era, each figure is two to three times the size of an ordinary person, and the facial expressions are carved lifelike, as if the history of that year is reappearing in front of your eyes. There are very few pedestrians on the road, and no one cares about some Internet celebrity entertainment facilities on the street.

In addition to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda North Square, there are four major squares: Xuanzang Square, Zhenguan Square, and Chuangling New Times Square. It takes at least 1.5 hours to walk back and forth on the entire street. There are magnificent buildings on both sides. There are four major cultural venues such as Xi'an Concert Hall, Shaanxi Grand Theater, Xi'an Art Museum, and Qujiang Pacific Movie City, which add a cultural atmosphere to this commercial street. The fusion of ancient and modern is vividly displayed here.

Today, there are no lights on the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It stands quietly on the central axis, silently telling its story. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in Daci'en Temple, also known as "Ci'en Temple Pagoda". In the third year of Yonghui of the Tang Dynasty (652), Xuanzang presided over the construction of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in order to preserve the Buddhist scriptures and statues brought back to Chang'an from Tianzhu via the Silk Road. It initially had five floors, and was later added to nine floors, with countless more floors and heights. After several changes, it was finally fixed to the seven-story tower that we saw, with a total height of 64.517 meters and a side length of the bottom floor of 25.5 meters.

As the earliest and largest extant square pavilion-style brick pagoda in the Tang Dynasty, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a typical physical evidence that the architectural form of ancient Indian Buddhist temples, such as pagodas, was introduced to the Central Plains along with Buddhism and integrated into Chinese culture. It is a landmark building that embodies the wisdom of the working people of ancient China, shining brightly in the bright lights.

Although I didn’t see any wonderful performances, the quiet atmosphere at this moment was more like the Tang Dynasty late at night. The people were all asleep, and only the lights were always on here, shining brilliantly and quietly. Waiting for the dawn to come.
