No.2, now Dongfeng Hotel, was once the most luxurious clubhouse in Shanghai-Shanghai General Association. 13, now the Customs Building, is the sister building of the HSBC Building. Built in 1927, copied from the clock of the British Parliament Building, it was assembled in Shanghai after it was built in Britain. The big clock on the facade of this building is the largest clock in Asia and one of the most famous clocks in the world (one of only three Westminster clocks in the world). It plays Westminster time every hour.
15, now China foreign exchange trading center, formerly Hua' e Dawson Bank Building, was completed in 1902. No. 16, which belongs to China Merchants Bank, was originally the Bank of Taiwan Building. No.27, the present foreign trade company building, originally belonged to Jardine Matheson, a British businessman. Jardine Matheson Group was established in Guangzhou on 1872, and was the first British trading company to enter China.
No.29, which now belongs to China Everbright Bank, was originally the Credit Suisse Building.
