Hagia Sophia

Longfengshan reservoir
Located 50 kilometers southeast of wuchang city, the reservoir is a large-scale water conservancy project with flood control irrigation as the main function and comprehensive utilization of fish farming, power generation and tourism. The dam connects Longshan in the east and Fengshan in the west. It forms a water surface with a length of 15 km and an average width of 3 km, with a water surface area of 45 square kilometers and a storage capacity of 270 million cubic meters. It is called Longfeng Lake, which controls the basin area of 1850 square kilometers. The concrete vertical dam is located at the northernmost part of the reservoir, with a length of 916m, a height of18.7m and a crest width of 6m. A reinforced concrete wave wall with a height of 1 m is built at the water's edge, and stones are paved on both sides to form a relatively flat slope protection. Bashang (left bank) is the population of the reservoir area, which is connected by four floodgates with a height of 8.3m and a width of12m. This European-style reservoir building is built on the hillside of Fengshan. At the eastern end (right bank) of the dam is a hydropower station, near Longshan. In order to prevent landslides, a "gate" channel with a width of 5 meters, a height of 4 meters and a length of 98 meters was formed in the mountain. There are 12 peaks on both banks, with the highest peak at an altitude of 580 meters, and the peak is the western slope of Zhangguangcailing in Changbai Mountain. With Longfeng Lake as the center and Longshan and Fengshan separated by water, there is a legend that "Kowloon belongs to Phoenix". The peaks on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are steep and continuous, forming many deep bays. The forest coverage rate is over 90%, and the main tree species are pine, olive and poplar. Animals include pandas, foxes, rabbits and so on. There are many wild fruits, edible fungi, wild berries and medicinal materials in the mountains. The reservoir can irrigate 400,000 mu of grain fields, and the annual power generation of the power station is130,000 kwh. The annual output of fish is 6.5438+10,000 Jin. The project started on 1958 and was completed on 1960. Now it belongs to the management office of Longfeng Mountain Reservoir in Wuchang. 1993 was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level scenic spot.
