Brief introduction of Southwest University of Political Science and Law:
Southwest University of Political Science and Law is the earliest institution of higher learning of political science and law in New China. After the reform and opening up, the first batch of national key universities and the first batch of national education and training bases for outstanding legal talents were established. The Ministry of Education and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government jointly established a university and entrusted the China Municipal Government with scholarship training for overseas students. The second phase of the plan to improve the basic ability of central and western universities was selected into universities.
The school, formerly known as Southwest People's Revolutionary University, was founded in 1950, and its president is Liu Bocheng.
1953 Southwest College of Political Science and Law was established on the basis of the Department of Political Science and Law of Southwest People's Revolutionary University. The first chairman was General Zhou Baozhong, the national hero of the Anti-Japanese War and the former commander-in-chief of the Second Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition.
1978, approved by the State Council as a national key university; 1993, approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as an authorized unit for doctoral degrees; 1995, renamed Southwest University of Political Science and Law with the approval of the former State Education Commission.
In 2003, it was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as the first batch of authorized units for doctoral degrees in the first-class discipline of law in China; In 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Personnel, a law postdoctoral mobile station was established.
20 12 was approved by the Ministry of education as a pilot university for independent enrollment in March; In August of the same year, it was approved by the Political and Legal Committee and the Ministry of Education to become the first batch of outstanding legal talent education and training bases in China; In June of the same year, it became a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government.
20 16 was selected as the national "Basic Capacity Building Project of Universities in the Midwest"; 20 17 was selected as a first-class discipline construction university in Chongqing.
After nearly 70 years of hard work, the school adheres to the motto of "erudition, faithfulness, respect for morality and law", adheres to the school-running concept of "building a school through teaching, strengthening the school through scientific research and managing the school according to law", and gradually condenses the school-running spirit of "keeping the world in mind, striving for self-improvement, Qi Xin working together and being rigorous and realistic".
It has formed a multi-level and multi-type talent training pattern, which focuses on law, with the coordinated development of philosophy, economics, literature, management, engineering and other disciplines, from undergraduate education to master's and doctoral education, continuing education, and international student education.
