Tantou Town has a land area of 56 square kilometers, a coastline of 8.5 kilometers, an area of 23, mu of cultivated land and a forest area of 21,2 mu. It governs 23 administrative villages (including one pure fishing village), with a total population of 58, and 23, overseas Chinese living abroad. It is a central town on the south bank of Minjiang Estuary and a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Fuzhou. The economy is relatively developed.
The main industrial industries in the town include chemical fiber warp knitting, building materials processing, electronic sensitization, clothing printing and dyeing, beer and beverage, decoration materials, jewelry molds, aquaculture and fishing, frozen food, fruits, vegetables and flowers, and fire-fighting equipment. There are four leading industries in agriculture, such as aquatic products, animal husbandry, fruits and vegetables. Brand products include "Changle celery" and "Changle grey goose". There are 86 industrial enterprises in the town, including 26 above designated size.
