When I was checking information, I read that there are several ancient pagodas existing in Kunming. In addition to the well-known ancient pagodas, the East Temple Pagoda and the West Temple Pagoda, there is also the twin pagodas of Dade Temple on Wuhua Mountain. Dade Temple
The temple was once one of the famous ancient temples in Kunming, but now only the twin pagodas remain.
Although I know that the temple has been severely damaged in previous wars and turmoil, I have always wanted to go and see the two pagodas that have stood for more than 500 years.
? I went to see a doctor at the Red Cross Hospital on Saturday. After seeing the doctor, it was just around noon, so I simply had a bowl of beef noodles in Jiexiao Lane next to the hospital. Then I went west along Jiexiao Lane to Pingzheng Street, Huashan East Road.
Visit the twin towers of Daitokuji Temple.
? Pagoda (Pagoda) is a unique architectural form in traditional Chinese architecture. This architectural form originated in ancient India and was called Stupa. However, with the introduction of Buddhism into ancient China, the foreign architectural form of Stupa
After being combined with China's native pavilion architectural forms, after the development of the Han, Wei, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, foreign civilizations blended with traditional Chinese architectural culture to form a common style in Buddhism with specific characteristics.
The form and style of "tower" this traditional oriental architecture.
According to the form, the tower is divided into various forms such as pavilion tower, dense eaves tower, pavilion tower, covered bowl tower, Vajra throne tower, Baozhen tower, five-wheel tower, multi-pagoda, seamless tower and so on.
Tower systems with different structures, the building planes have gradually evolved from the early square to hexagonal, octagonal and even circular. During this period, the tower's construction technology has also continued to improve, and the structure has become increasingly reasonable. The materials used have also changed from traditional rammed earth.
, wood expanded to masonry, ceramics, glass, metal and other materials.
After the 14th century, the pagoda gradually moved from the religious world to the secular world. Therefore, according to the sutra system, the existing pagodas can be divided into Buddhist pagodas and Wenfeng pagodas. One is related to religion and the other is related to cultural scenery.
Jiexiao Lane is not long, only about 200 meters long. It runs east-west and connects to Qingnian Road in the east. It climbs along the mountain and then connects to Huashan East Road in the west.
The widest part of the alley is 4-5 meters, and the narrowest part is only 3 meters.
Climbing slowly uphill, I found that there were still a few old houses remaining along the way.
There is actually a typical Yiyiyin house preserved in the most prosperous corner of Kunming.
In the middle of the alley, there is a renovated one-story courtyard with blue tiles and white walls. There is a cultural protection sign on the door. It turns out that this is the former site of the Yunnan Underground Party Building of the Communist Party of China. The opening days are Monday and Wednesday. I am ready to find an opportunity next time.
Go in and take a look.
I walked through Jiexiao Lane and came to Huashan East Road. Because Dade Temple could not be seen on the roadside, I used Baidu Maps to search while walking and found the twin towers of Dade Temple hidden in an old residential area.
It was a residential area in the early 1990s. There were no signs at the entrance. Only when you enter the residential area can you see two ancient towers surrounded by fences in the middle of the open space of the residential building.
It is said that due to the excavation of surrounding building foundations and other reasons, the tower body has tilted and is being reinforced. However, the twin towers have been wrapped in a green fence for four or five years, and no one has seen any repairs. They are just surrounded by scaffolding and hung up.
It’s just a green fence, and the scaffolding is also rusty. It looks like it hasn’t been worked on for a long time.
Historical data records that Dade Temple in Kunming was built in the Jin Dynasty and was originally called "Bliss Palace". It was overhauled and renamed Dade Temple during the Dade period of the Yuan Dynasty.
In the Jichou year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1469), He Yongqing built two pagodas on the left and right in front of the temple, which are the twin pagodas of Dade Temple.
It has been more than 500 years since the completion of the twin pagodas of Dade Temple. The shape of the pagodas is similar to that of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. It is a 13-story solid brick square pagoda with dense eaves. Each floor of the pagoda has niches on all four sides to enshrine Buddha statues and inlay inscriptions.
The two towers are 21 meters high and 27 meters apart from east to west.
The original color of the tower is light beige. Due to the vicissitudes of life and rain, the tower has many mottled black marks.
Although it is enclosed, the simple and solemn nature of the ancient pagoda can still be seen through the gaps. The tightly layered brickwork shows the care and piety of the ancient craftsmen when building it.
The Xumizuo of the two towers are very distinctive, and they are different from the similar solid brick square towers with dense eaves that I have seen before.
The shape of the entire tower is simple and elegant, natural, solemn, and unpretentious.
? In ancient Kunming, there were the twin towers of Dade Temple in the north and the twin towers of East Temple Tower and West Temple Tower in the south of the city, facing each other far away.
The four ancient pagodas are symbols of Kunming's ancient civilization.
According to records, there used to be large and small green water rivers under the twin towers of Dade Temple. The twin towers and the water complemented each other brilliantly, and they were known as "the twin towers reflected in the green." It is said in the book that "the twin towers are in the clouds, and the first floor is in the sky." During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,
It was even known as one of the ten scenic spots in Kunming at that time. Unfortunately, the tower (Songzi Tower) has been destroyed without a trace, and only the twin towers are still standing.
Zhu Xiaoyuan, a native of the Qing Dynasty, once wrote in his poem "Twin Pagoda Temple" that "the ancient temple is inlaid with snail peaks, which is surprising outside the world. The two floating figures in the sky are worshiped by the chaotic mountains. The city has been ashes for many years, but it still stands unbroken."
However, the current status of "protection" is worrying.
The two ancient towers hidden in the residential area and the dilapidated surrounding environment make people feel a little sad.
This is how many things are forgotten and then destroyed.
Five years ago, there was a real estate called ASEAN Book City. It was said that Dade Temple would be renovated and developed into a citizen park. After the grand opening ceremony, it had been silently settling for almost seven years without any construction.
After part of the demolition, the vacant land was turned into a temporary parking lot, with ruins and ruins, deserted and dilapidated. Only an old tree in the corner still showed vitality.
