Interpretation of the Pavilion
Architectural Appearance
The two major elements of the landscape design of the Singapore Pavilion are water and gardens, which represent Singapore’s proper efforts in the process of sustainable development. The two major environmental elements are carefully handled and balanced. The pavilion also effectively integrates a variety of design elements - musical fountains, interactive audio-visual effects and the characteristic flower landscape of the roof garden, forming a perfect harmony. The overall structure of the exhibition hall is supported by four pillars. Four columns of different shapes are suspended from the roof along smooth curves, running up and down, setting off each other, and forming a balance between tensions. They symbolize the diverse races that live, work and play together in Singapore. Inside the exhibition hall, suspended gentle slopes and stairs are used to connect the exhibition halls on each floor.
