Shandong Jiaotong University is a second-level secondary school. The school is introduced as follows: 1. School introduction: Shandong Jiaotong University is located in Jinan City, Shandong Province. It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Shandong Province.

It is a characteristic university for cultivating applied talents that is the key construction of the Shandong Characteristic Famous School Project. It is one of the first batch of pilot universities for the Ministry of Education’s University of Applied Science Reform Pilot Strategic Research Project, and the first batch of universities selected for the Ministry of Education’s new engineering research and practice project.

In 2017, the school became a provincial master's degree project construction unit in Shandong Province. In 2019, it was approved as a civilized campus in Shandong Province. In 2020, it was selected as a high-level discipline construction university in Shandong Province. In 2021, it was approved as one of the first batch of supporting units for the construction of applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province.

The college was founded in 1956 as the Jinan Automobile Mechanical School of the Ministry of Communications. In 1958, it was renamed Shandong Communications College. In 1962, it was renamed Jinan Communications College. In 1970, it was renamed the local state-owned Jinan Weidong Machinery Factory. In 1973, it was renamed Shandong Provincial Communications School.

In 1980, it was renamed Jinan Communications School of the Ministry of Communications, and in 1988 it was renamed Jinan Communications College of the Ministry of Communications.
