In the 14th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 138 1), Xu Da, king of Zhongshan, was ordered by Zhu Yuanzhang, the great ancestor, to build Shanhaiguan. One day, Xu Da boarded Wangqin Island (now the center of Qinhuangdao, when Qinhuangdao was an island surrounded by water but close to land) to inspect the terrain. Qinhuangdao is located in the western Liaoning corridor, which is the throat from North China to Northeast China, and is also an important area where the cultures and trade of all ethnic groups inside and outside the customs meet. Therefore, people on the dock on the island are busy.
Xu Da cheerfully led his entourage around and unconsciously came to a bridge by the river. The breeze is blowing, and the fragrance is fragrant. Everyone finds their appetite unbearable. They smelled the fragrance and looked for it, but they saw a simple wooden shed under the eaves of the bridge. The fragrance is coming from the inside. When they walked in, they could see a woman frying meat and ribs with two children beside her. Xu Da ordered people to buy some and sit down and eat. Suddenly, the fragrance overflowed and he praised them again and again! After eating, the fingers still have fragrance, and the more you eat, the more you like to eat. I feel that I haven't even eaten a few pounds, and I'm still unfinished. So he called the woman to ask. The women's road was originally the home of officials at the end of Yuan Dynasty. Because of the war, the Yuan family was ruined, and she fled here with her children. I learned the secret recipe of fried meat from the chef in the official residence, and now I make a living by selling fried meat. Xu Da said, you used to be a big woman, but now you can make a living by frying meat and have children, which is very rare and admirable. So I ordered someone to take pen and ink and write down: "The tendon at the bridge head is called mountains and seas", which became a much-told story as a gift for women.
Nowadays, Qiaotou sparerib has been passed down from generation to generation and has become a famous local food in Qinhuangdao.
