New Zealand is located in the Pacific Ocean and is divided into two islands, North and South. Australia is the main part of Oceania.
The natural environment here is quite well protected.
This is because New Zealand has a small population and many natural areas are not polluted by humans.
Here, I would like to share with you a guide to self-driving around the island in New Zealand and a guide to the best routes.
I just returned from New Zealand, the longest journey in my history - 43 days.
This trip can be divided into two parts.
A family of three traveled around the island in an RV for ten days, spending about 20,000, and then my father went back to work to move bricks.
The mother and son stayed in a B&B in New Zealand and participated in a four-week study in the third semester of a local school (commonly known as micro-study abroad).
My son experienced the English teaching environment and rich and colorful courses.
Her mother buys and cooks food in the local supermarket every day and accompanies her to read and hang out, fully experiencing the daily life of the locals and killing two birds with one stone.
This part costs about 25,000 yuan, including tuition, rent, living expenses, and weekend travel expenses.
Forgive me for mentioning the price first every time I write a post, because sharing a great deal on a trip is my favorite thing to do.
As non-rich people, we also have dreams of traveling around the world!
Let’s take a few pictures first.
All photos are taken with mobile phones, because for us, we are not professional photographers and do not need various photo editing software.
Traveling is for us to experience real scenery.
In fact, the world we see is more about the mind, and it is the mind that changes our outlook on life.
I saw the caravan that accompanied us for ten days. I drove this caravan around the North Island for ten days, including food and accommodation, and experienced a different trip.
It seems like my posts are filled with numbers.
I want to show you how to save money to make your travel dreams come true.
In fact, we are not the kind of lovers who endure hardships and travel around the world.
We go out without self-abuse or Facebook, and use limited money to experience cost-effective projects.
For cheap air tickets, I often take trains to Hong Kong and Macau (air tickets there are generally much cheaper than in Wuhan).
This time I went to Shenzhen and took a sleeper train to Auckland.
When traveling abroad, I often walk about 2km just to save transportation costs (Google navigation is very convenient).
We will not hesitate to use all the money we save to experience various projects, such as watching penguins, hot air balloons, skydiving, and helicopter glaciers, because these are relatively rare in China.
I’m not telling you with countless beautiful pictures and selfies, I’m just looking at other people’s travel notes.
Like every trip of mine, this one started with a special ticket.
On December 29 last year, I accidentally discovered HNA’s sailing promotion tickets.
I spent about 3,000 RMB on a trip to Auckland, New Zealand, from Shenzhen during the summer vacation, and I bought it without hesitation.
Tickets for a family of three are RMB 10,000.
My husband spent 2645 for a 10-day round trip, and my child and I spent 6200 for a 43-day round trip.
In the southern hemisphere of New Zealand, summer vacation falls in winter and is the off-season, so buying air tickets in advance will give you a great discount.
When we were preparing to leave, the air ticket had already increased to more than 8,000 yuan for a round trip, so the cheap air tickets made it a cost-effective trip.
Similarly, the RV rental is 5,000 yuan for ten days in the off-season.
RVing is a very common way of traveling abroad. You can go anywhere and it’s very free.
But at night, they usually stay at the RV campground, fill up their cars with gas and water, and then use the campground's public restrooms and public kitchen to cook.
This is the camp we stayed at.
About 200 households come in every night for 300 yuan.
Provide charging stations for them to charge, and then we can take a shower in the kitchen and bathroom of the hotel.
It's very clean.
Many foreigners are more economical than us.
They stayed in camp only every two days.
Did you see that we are all wearing padded jackets and jackets?
At this time, the temperature is about 8 to 10 degrees, which is how hot Wuhan is.
We found a place to escape the heat.
In the Chinese summer of July, we took a ski trip to the filming location of "Lord of the Rings" to see if it felt like déjà vu.
But in reality, RV travel isn’t as romantic as you might think.
It's nothing like staying in a hotel.
You have to do a lot of things yourself.
You have to make your own bed and quilt, and go to the coin-operated laundry room in the campground to wash clothes in order to save money. Also because Western eating habits are mostly hamburgers, bread, and desserts. When driving an RV, most people can cook by themselves because there is a kitchen on the car.
This time I specially prepared a small rice cooker and brought a lot of condiments from China to comfort the Chinese stomach.
What is particularly interesting is that when cooking in the public kitchen of the camp and people from all countries cook their own meals, Chinese food is the most complicated.
Every time I drive my RV through a town, I go to the supermarket to do some shopping, so I know the local prices very well.
Unlike ordinary group tours, you can experience the life of local people to the greatest extent.
Here, you will find that steak is not as expensive as sweet potatoes.
Please consciously multiply the price by five (1 New Zealand dollar equals 5 yuan).
Kiwis are very cheap, only one or two yuan each.
Vegetarian food is very expensive, and no one eats animal offal, which is horribly cheap.
You can buy a lot of tripe, pig ears, beef heart, and Venetian beef for 3 New Zealand dollars.
So here we eat seafood, steak, and lamb chops every day because vegetables are too expensive.
RV sizes vary depending on the number of people.
One is larger.
