1. The design of Merlion's head was inspired by the records in Malay Chronicle. In the14th century, a prince named San Niro Udama from the "Kingdom of Sanfo Qi" came to Singapore on his way to Malacca. As soon as he landed, he saw a magical beast, and his entourage told him that it was a lion. Therefore, he named the island "Singapore", which means "Lion City" in Sanskrit, and the fishtail symbolizes the beauty of crossing the ocean that year.

Merlion is not a real animal, but a fictional animal with a lion's head. The newly designed tourist logo image of Singaporean Chinese Lin Lang is a famous water-jet sculpture in downtown Singapore, which has been used since 1997.

3. It was designed by brenner, curator of Vancliffe Aquarium in 1964. Merlion was registered as its trademark by Singapore Tourism Board in 1966, and was newly commissioned by the famous sculptor Lin Lang in 197 1 year to create a lion head, a fish body and a fish tail. The elephant is 8.4 meters high, the lion's head is 2.3 meters long, the width is 1.7 meters, and it weighs 40 tons. This sculpture is now located in Merlion Park in Singapore.
