Jinfeng Manor is like walking into the Qiao Family Courtyard

The first time I walked into Jinfeng Manor, located at the south entrance of Shuanglin East Road, Xiaotun Village, Fengtai District, Beijing, it felt like walking into the Qiao family courtyard: three brick-carved gatehouses more than 10 meters high, and a brick-carved screen wall opposite the gate.

The red lanterns hanging high in the courtyard always give people a sense of déjà vu.

The restaurant's horizontal plaque: "Sincerely Eat the World" allows diners to feel the essence of ancient Shanxi merchants.

The restaurant is large and bright, and the operation of the stalls is clear to diners.

The large pots of stews and pasta stalls will make people's mouths move.

I traveled to Shanxi many years ago and was obsessed with the pasta there.

Take a walk around the restaurant and you’ll find oatmeal noodles, steamed buns with vegetables, yellow rice fried cakes, large flower rolls with Hu oil, mutton siomai, steamed oatmeal dumplings, yellow rice cold cakes, yogurt cakes, baked buns, etc.

The name, but not the name, of Shanxi noodles makes me feel like I haven’t met it until it’s too late.

I didn't expect that there would be such an authentic Shanxi restaurant in Beijing. It is a clever fusion of food culture and Shanxi merchant history. I fell in love with this restaurant without knowing it.

Jinzhong noodles and shaved noodles are Shanxi snacks, which also highlight the local food characteristics of combining vegetables and rice.

The dough is smooth and the soup is sour, spicy, fresh and fragrant, making it very refreshing.

The shaved surface is smooth on the outside and has tendons on the inside, making it more fragrant the more you chew it.

Shanxi braised vegetables, Shanxi oily pork, crispy rice mixed vegetables, steamed crispy chicken in Hetao, steamed fresh green onions, steamed beef in original sauce, manor vegetable root fragrant, sauced pig tails, old vinegar kung fu fish, hand-braised intestines, etc.

specialties.

Speaking of Shanxi stew, there is also a historical story.

It is said that during the Southern Song Dynasty, treacherous ministers were in power. Yue Fei, the anti-Jin marshal, was killed by the treacherous minister Qin Hui on trumped-up charges, which aroused the public indignation of the ministers and the people.

Some literati stewed fried vegetables together, treating the ingredients as Qin Hui, eating its meat and drinking its blood... Because it was relatively simple to make, the stew gradually became a home-cooked dish in the north.

Shanxi oily pork is a dish with the most local characteristics. The tender and salty meat is accompanied by the sour taste of vinegar, which is endlessly memorable.

A dish called "Manor Reception Rice" aroused my curiosity. Meatballs, strips of meat, tofu, eggs, all delicious things were gathered together, much like the New Year's Eve dinner when I was a child.

Since they are stewed in large pots, they are very suitable for the elderly and children.

Braised fish with perilla is also a delicacy that is tender, not fishy, ??and has a nourishing effect.

After having enough wine and food, diners received several Jinfeng Manor banknotes at the checkout. They can use these banknotes to continue spending the next time they dine.

Looking at the banknotes in denominations ranging from one hundred taels, five hundred taels, and one hundred taels in my hand, I feel as if I have traveled back to ancient times and once again feel the brilliant marketing strategies of Shanxi merchants.

It should be noted that the use time and scope of use of banknotes are clearly stipulated, and consumers must read the instructions carefully.

Warm reminder: Transportation information: Take bus 338, 554, 830, or 959 and get off at Shuanglin South Road bus station.

If you drive by car, you can navigate to Jinfeng Manor (Shuanglin East Road Branch). There is a free parking lot in the courtyard.
