For me, Baotou City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is one of the real food deserts in China. Although Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is famous for its distinctive Mongolian food culture, Baotou lacks unique food culture and representative dishes. In Baotou, it is difficult to find unforgettable local dishes or special snacks, and most restaurants provide ordinary Chinese food or fast food.

One of the main reasons is that Baotou is geographically remote, and compared with other big cities, the supply of ingredients is limited. Although Baotou has many local specialties, such as fat sheep, sand ice and oat noodles, these specialties have not formed a unique food culture, nor have they been widely promoted and passed down.

In addition, Baotou's insufficient investment in economic development has also had a certain negative impact on the development of gourmet culture. In many cities, governments and enterprises usually organize various food cultural activities and food festivals to promote local food culture and improve the development of tourism. Although there are some shortcomings in food culture in Baotou, it does not affect it to become a beautiful city. Baotou has beautiful natural scenery and rich human history, attracting many tourists to visit. Although it lacks unique food culture and representative dishes, its natural scenery and human history still attract many tourists.
