5. Xuehu beef fried buns. Xuehu beef fried buns are one of Yongcheng’s specialties and one of the most popular breakfast noodles in Yongcheng.
Xuehu beef fried buns began in the Northern Song Dynasty. A man from Xuehuji worked as a chef in the imperial palace of Kaifeng Prefecture in Tokyo (now Kaifeng, Henan Province). On the Queen's birthday, he hosted a banquet for all the ministers. The chef once presented fried dumplings and bean porridge from his hometown, and all the ministers were delighted.
When the food was gone, the Emperor of the Song Dynasty was overjoyed and rewarded him generously. He was given the title of "Second Grade Steamed Bun".
From then on, Xuehu beef fried buns and Kaifeng steamed buns kept pace with each other, and became popular in various states, prefectures and counties.
