Pubu cuisine originated in the Song Dynasty. It is said to have been created by Sima Guang, a politician and writer in the Northern Song Dynasty. It has a history of more than a thousand years.

Sima Guang compiled the literary masterpiece "Zizhi Tongjian" in Duyuan Garden, Sima Street, southeast of Luoyang City (now Sima Street Village, Yibin District, Luoyang City). At the same time, the gourmet paste he created has also been passed down to this day. And it has become a staple food for people in Yiluo (Yihe, Luohe, generally refers to Luoyang Basin). Later, the method of making divination spread to Shaanxi, Gansu and other places, and different methods of making divination were formed.
