Diestrammena japonica is also called the Stove Horse. It is also called "Zao Chicken" among the people in eastern Sichuan and among the Hakka people in Longyan, Fujian. Belongs to the family Orthoptera, Calydidae. This insect can be seen all year round. It often appears in the gaps between stoves and debris piles, feeding on leftovers, plants and small insects. The insect has no wings and produces sound by rubbing its legs. This species is widely distributed around the world, and its protection level is: Least Concern.
