Buffett said that he has met countless people in his life. But I have never seen anyone like Charlie Munger. Today I had the honor to read Munger’s wise speech at the University of California School of Law’s graduation ceremony. It was like a new world had opened before my eyes, and I felt like “listening to your words is worth ten years of reading.”
What impressed me most is that Munger has a unique way of thinking. You can feel it through the content of his speech. When he is talking about a truth or something about himself, he has a unique way of thinking. Enlightenment can mostly reflect its way of thinking, which is "reverse thinking".
We know that people have the nature of "seeking advantages and avoiding disadvantages". For one thing, our ordinary thinking is to think about the benefits it can bring to ourselves. Take fitness as an example. If you exercise and control your diet, you can lose weight and get the toned body you want. But people are lazy. They want to lose weight but don’t want to exercise, and they are very greedy for food, so they will think that they should go to the gym tomorrow and eat food first and then lose weight. It’s not a bad idea to lose weight this time to console myself for not getting the “ideal body”.
Note that this way of thinking only sees the "benefits" of doing something. When the "benefits" are still some way off, people would rather give up such future benefits to enjoy the present and satisfy their desires. of pleasure.
How would people who use reverse thinking view this matter? He will think that not exercising or not being able to control his mouth to eat will make his body fatter and further away from his goal.
This reverse way of thinking sees the "bad". People have a characteristic that the pain of "losing" is several times greater than the joy of "gaining", so the final result is often " The motivation of "avoiding harm" is greater than "seeking profit".
There are many more truths that I will not talk about my experience one by one. These truths are the crystallization of this wise man’s 94 years of life wisdom. They are selflessly shared with us and are worthy of our love and admiration.
Finally, when I go to bed tonight, I am already better than when I wake up in the morning.
Good night!
