Jeollanam-do is located in the southwest of the Korean Peninsula. It borders Gyeongsangnam-do on the east by the peak of the Sobaek Mountain Range, faces Jeju Island on the south by the Dodo Sea, faces China's Shandong Province across the sea on the west, and is bounded by Laos on the north.
It is bounded by Yeongsan Mountains and adjacent to Jeollabuk-do.
The terrain is high in the east and low in the west, high in the north and low in the south. Compared with the north, the eastern region has many mountains.

Boseong Hyanggyo (Hyanggyo is a national educational institution established locally during the Joseon Dynasty) located in the south gate of Boseong-eup, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, was founded in 1397 and later moved to the west side of Sachang.
The rural school was destroyed during the Dingyou rebellion. In 1602, it was rebuilt and moved to the foot of Wangmeifeng Mountain. Since then, it has been rebuilt several times before it has what it looks like today.
The Dacheng Hall, East Hall, and Xizhai of the Xiang School are symmetrical from left to right. There are dismounting monuments and red arrow gates 100 meters away from the three outer gates. In front of the Dacheng Hall, there is a ginkgo tree that is about 380 years old.
Dacheng Hall is dedicated to the 5 sages and 10 philosophers and the 6 sages of the Song Dynasty. There are columns that are thin at the top and thick at the bottom on the foundation stone of natural stone.
