Near Houhai, Beijing, there are many scenic spots with Beijing characteristics. It is suitable to take a stroll in early autumn and experience the autumn of Peking described by Lao She.
Route: Drum Tower - Shichahai - Jingshan Park - North and South Chizi Street - Tiananmen Drum Tower Ticket: 20 The Drum Tower is a landmark building in Beijing, a relic of the charm of the ancient capital, and a new life in old Beijing full of fireworks.
The Drum Tower is connected to the alley, giving rise to bustling market life.
In the square between the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower, you often see this scene: on a summer afternoon, a person sits on a rocking chair and drinks by himself, with a cup of tea and a cattail leaf fan, free and relaxed.
Recommended delicacies: Beijing-style delicacies: Yao Ji Fried Liver and Doorframe Braised Pork in the southeast corner of the Drum Tower. Treasure shops nearby: toast at the orchid, hidden in the alley, with a balcony overlooking the Drum Tower; oh! My Fine, Kujin Tavern Shichahai Chongqing
After passing the Drum Tower through Yandai Xiejie, we arrived at Shichahai.
When traveling to Shichahai, you can either ride a bicycle or go boating on the lake, or you can even hail a rickshaw and travel through the alleys, looking for the imprints of the ancient capital, while listening to the master's description of old Beijing.
Shichahai has been known as the "White Lotus Pond" since ancient times. There is a lotus viewing area near the island in the center of the lake. Even though it is already the beginning of autumn, there are still lotus trees lining the lake, making this peaceful sea even more vibrant.
There are cafes and bars on both sides of Shichahai. When night falls, you can meet up with a few friends and listen to free and easy folk music.
Surrounding attractions: Soong Ching Ling’s former residence, Prince Gong’s Mansion, etc. Recommended food: Beijing-style food: Nanmen Shabu Shabu Coffee Drinks: Sugar Room, after ordering, go directly to the fourth floor, where you can overlook Shichahai, Drum Tower, and Bell Tower. I don’t recommend the food on Yandai Xiejie.
Unpalatable and unauthentic Jingshan Park. Coming out of Houhai, ride along Di'anmenwai Street, which has few vehicles and shady roads. You can reach Jingshan Park in about ten minutes.
Climbing up to the Wanchun Pavilion, you can see the city of Beijing at a glance from the "first place in the Beijing Range Rover".
The rows of high-rise buildings in the east complement the historical richness of the ancient buildings on the central axis. They are either modern or simple, prosperous or quiet.
It is recommended to enter from the west gate of Jingshan Park. After exiting the east gate, you can ride along the cool and comfortable North-South Chizi Street to Tiananmen Square.
Surrounding attractions: Ancestral Temple, Pudu Temple, Nanchizi Art Museum, Chen Duxiu's former residence, etc.
