First, winter solstice in jiaozi.
At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, disasters were serious everywhere, and many people fell ill. There is a famous doctor in Nanyang named Zhang Ji and Zhong Jing. He studied medical books hard since childhood, learned from others and became the founder of traditional Chinese medicine. Zhang Zhongjing is not only good at medical skills, but also noble in medical ethics. He took the poor and the rich seriously and saved countless lives. When Zhang Zhongjing was an official in Changsha, he often treated the people.
One year, when the local plague was prevalent, he made a cauldron at the entrance of Yamen, giving up medicine to save people, which was deeply loved by Changsha people. Zhang Zhongjing retired from Changsha and went to his hometown Baihe. On the shore, I saw many poor people hungry and cold, and their ears were frozen. He was very upset and determined to treat them. When Zhang Zhongjing came home, many people sought medical treatment. He is as busy as a bee, but he always remembers those poor people with frozen ears.
He followed Changsha's example and told his disciples to build a medical shed and cauldron in an open space in Dongguan, Nanyang, and open it on the day of winter solstice to send medicine to the poor to treat their injuries.
Zhang Zhongjing's medicine is called "cold-dispelling Joule Decoction". The method is to put mutton, pepper and some cold-dispelling medicinal materials into a pot and cook them, then take them out and chop them up. People call this kind of food "jiaozi's Ear", "jiaozi" or partial eclipse, and eat it on the winter solstice and the first day of the New Year to commemorate the day when Zhang Zhongjing opened the shed to give medicine and cure patients.
Second, winter solstice in jiaozi.
According to legend, in ancient times there was a widow named Yu Lianxiang in Xinghua Prefecture. Her husband died young. She farmed, picked grass, knitted hats and raised her son to study. Yuanyuan won the first prize at the age of 20. When I was an official, I had to go home to visit my mother because I was busy with government affairs, so I sent half my salary back to my mother. However, Zhang Er was addicted to gambling, lost his money and lied to Yuan Yuan every time.
One day, the emperor asked about Yuan Yuan's family background and was moved by his mother Lian Xiang's integrity. He ordered Yuanyuan to build a "chastity square" for her mother. Yuanyuan was very happy to receive the order to go home. But Lian Xiang, who hasn't heard from her son for three years at home, thinks that her son has forgotten the love between mother and son. Angry, hiding in the mountains
When Yuanyuan returned to her hometown, she realized that Zhang Er had made a mistake and went into the mountains to find her mother. At that time, winter had arrived, and there were no wild fruits and vegetables on the mountain. Yuanyuan made them into wild fruits with glutinous rice, cooked them and put them on the tree at the top of the mountain for her mother to eat. One day, Yuanyuan stuck meatballs from the top of the mountain to Cuo, trying to lead her home.
On the day of winter solstice, before my mother chose cuc (which is called home or house in coastal areas of Fujian and Taiwan Province Province), Yuan Yuan told her mother about Zhang Er's unfortunate experience, and the mother and son got back together and began to cry. This story has been handed down from generation to generation, so there is a saying that we eat jiaozi on the solstice in winter and have a "reunion festival".
Third, jiaozi.
People in Pingtan, Fujian call the winter solstice "Winter Festival", also called "Filial Piety Festival". Legend has it that in ancient times, a mountaineer went into the mountains to cut firewood and was captured by a wild animal called Mother Bird. Mother bird understands human nature and is lustful, forcing the villagers to marry her and get pregnant and have a boy. When the mountain people went out to pick wild fruits by the mother bird, they escaped from the mountain with the little boy in their arms and returned home, naming their son a godsend.
The villagers didn't get married again, so they raised God-given and sent him to school wholeheartedly. It's a godsend to see that all the other children have their mothers to pick them up, but dad only says that his mother has been away from home. In a blink of an eye, I was born at the age of 18, and I was a high school scholar. 19 was a juren, and I was a scholar at the age of 20. I was promoted to a knight, and I returned to my hometown in gorgeous clothes. I want to repay my mother's kindness and my father's kindness. I mentioned my mother and father again, and my father told me truthfully, urging God to give up the idea of looking for my mother.
God-given dilemma, as a scholar and court official, how can you recognize a wild animal as a mother? Your mother has feelings for me. How can you deny her? As the saying goes, "dogs don't think their families are poor, and children don't think their mothers are ugly." We must get our mother back. God-given idea has been decided, so we asked his father how to find her. Father said that her mother loves to eat wild monkey persimmon (a kind of small wild fruit), as long as she picks a few baskets of monkey persimmon from the village to the hole where her mother lives.
His mother will definitely pick up monkeys and persimmons all the way to the village. God sent them one by one. The next evening, mother bird came to the entrance of the village with monkeys and persimmons, and was caught by the guards lying in ambush here.
The mother bird recognized the mountaineer and glared. God sent me to bow down to my mother. Mother Bird couldn't say it, but she knew in her heart that it was her son. She was very happy. She laughed loudly and died of old age and heart failure. This is the winter solstice. In memory of his mother, God sent him to make balls in the shape of monkeys and persimmons to worship his mother on the solstice every winter, and later generations followed suit.
Fourth, the winter solstice in Taiwan Province Province.
In Taiwan Province, it is said that the winter solstice is the birthday of a cow, which is a very interesting legend. Once upon a time there was a carpenter named Mo Gong Dou. In the village where he lives, the soil is very fertile. As long as farmers scatter rice seeds in the fields, they can sit down and wait for the harvest. Therefore, these cultivators have nothing to do all day, gather in Mo's carpenter's shop and chat all over the world.
Mo Dou is so noisy that they can't settle down to work. So he told his apprentice to take a bag of sawdust that he had enchanted and scatter it in the farmer's field every morning. These sawdust will turn into weeds as soon as they are scattered in the ground.
Mo's original intention is to ask farmers to form a good habit of hard work and mow the grass every day. I didn't expect this disciple to think it was too much trouble to sprinkle every day, so he emptied the whole sawdust in one breath. As a result, all the fields grew thick weeds, but the rice withered, which made the farmers complain.
Seeing that the apprentice had made a big disaster, Mo Dou punished him for turning into a cow to help the farmer weed. After Mo's apprentice became a cow, his inertia remained unchanged. When the master asked him to plow, he came up with many excuses: I am too tired today, I have a cold today, or if you don't feed me, how can I work for you? .
It even agreed with its owner that every time it went to the farm, it should be fed with red turtle shells or glutinous rice balls, otherwise it would stop farming in protest. Seeing that the cow was so arrogant, the Buddha in the sky nailed a nail on the cow's chin to stop it from complaining.
Because it likes to eat jiaozi, people choose the winter solstice as its birthday. Besides feeding it jiaozi, he stuck a round nail on its horn and forehead. At the same time, in order to thank Niu Yi for his hard work over the years, he must have a comfortable rest on the winter solstice.
Five, winter solstice dog meat
It is said that the custom of eating dog meat on the solstice began in the Han Dynasty. According to legend, Liu Bang, Emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty, ate dog meat cooked by Fan Kuai on the solstice in winter, which was particularly delicious and full of praise. Since then, the custom of eating dog meat from winter solstice has been formed among the people. Nowadays, people eat dog meat, mutton and all kinds of nutritious food on the solstice of winter, which is a good sign for the coming year.
