Zuo Zongtang: 18 12 1 1 month 10 (the seventh day of October, the seventeenth year of Qing Jiaqing) was born in Zuojiaduan, Xiangyin County, Changsha Prefecture, Hunan Province. Be wise by nature, and be less ambitious. 18 16 years (twenty-first year of Jiaqing), he went to Changsha, the provincial capital, to study with his father. 1827 (the seventh year of Daoguang) won the second place in Changsha government test. He not only studied Confucian classics, but also dabbled in practical learning, and regarded those famous works involving China's history, geography, military affairs, economy, water conservancy and other contents as treasures, which played a great role in leading troops to fight and managing finances.

Zuo Zongtang is the author of Chu Barracks System (with bylaws) and Park Cunge's Agricultural Books (lost). Its manuscripts and official documents are equal to the Complete Works of Zuo Wenxiang in the late Qing Dynasty.
