From Andersen's fairy tale "Five Beans in a Pod"
original text
There is a pod with five peas in it. Beads and peas are green, and peas think the whole world is green. The pods are growing, and so are the peas. Peas sit in a row according to their status at home. It's sunny outside, warming the pods. It is warm and comfortable here; Bright during the day and dark at night. Peas get bigger as they sit. They thought, we must do something.
"Are we going to sit here forever?" One of them asked, "I'm afraid I'll get stiff if I sit like this all the time." I seem to think something happened outside-I have a hunch! "
Many days have passed. The pods turn yellow, and so do these peas. "The whole world has turned yellow!" They said.
Suddenly, they felt the pod shaking. The pod was picked and put in the pocket with many other full pods.
"We are going to open soon!" Said the pea. So they waited for this thing to come.
"I wonder which of us will go farthest!" The smallest bean said, "Yes, things will be revealed soon."
Bang! The pod cracked. All five beans are in one child's hand. The child hugged them tightly and said they could be bullets for toy guns. He immediately put the first bean in and shot it out.
"Now I want to fly to the vast world! If you can catch me, please come! " The first pea said that and flew away.
"I," said the second grain, "will fly directly to the sun. This is like a pea, which is commensurate with my status! " So, it also flew away.
"We'll stay where we go," said two others. "However, we must roll forward." Before loading the toy gun, it slipped from the child's hand to the ground and began to roll. But these two beans were finally put into the toy gun. They said, "We will shoot farthest!" "
"Do whatever you want!" The last one said. It was shot into the air and landed on an old board under the top floor window, just drilling into a moss-covered crack. Moss wrapped it up and it really became a prisoner lying there.
"Do whatever you want!" The bean said.
A poor woman lives in this small attic. She has an only daughter who is very weak and has been in bed for a whole year. The little girl lies at home quietly and patiently all day, and her mother goes out to earn some living expenses every day.
One morning in spring, my mother was ready to go out to work, and the sun shone gently on the ground through the small window.
The little girl looked at the lowest window pane and said, "There is a green thing sticking out of the window pane. What is it? "
Mother went to the window and opened it halfway. "ah!" She said, "My God, it turns out that a small pea has taken root here and grown small leaves." How did it get into this gap? You have a small garden now! "
Mother moved the little girl's bed closer to the window so that she could see the growing peas.
"Mom, I feel much better!" In the evening, the little girl said, "The sun shines on me very warmly today. This bean is growing well, and I will get better; I can get up and walk into the warm sunshine. "
Although the mother didn't believe it, she carefully supported the plant with a small stick to prevent it from being blown away by the wind, because it gave her daughter a beautiful imagination of life. She took a rope from the windowsill and put it on the top of the window frame so that pea seedlings could grow around it.
It's really growing-people can see it growing every day.
"Really, it's going to bloom now!" The mother gradually began to believe that her child would get better. She remembers that when the child spoke recently, she was much happier than before, and in recent days she was able to get up by herself, sit up straight in bed and look at the small garden formed by peas with excited eyes. A week later, the little girl was able to sit for a whole hour for the first time. She sat happily in the warm sunshine. The window opened and in front of her was a blooming pink pea flower. The little girl lowered her head and gently kissed its delicate leaves. This day is like a festival.
Where are the remaining peas? The one that once wanted to fly to the wide world fell into a puddle on the roof and was eaten by a pigeon. The two beans rolled on the ground didn't go far, and they were also eaten by pigeons. They have some practical uses. The pea that wanted to fly to the sun fell into the ditch and lay in dirty water for several weeks. It rose greatly.
"I am fat enough!" The pea said, "I'm so fat that I'm about to burst." I don't think any pea has ever and will never reach this level. I am the greatest of the five peas. "
At the moment, the little girl by the window on the top floor-her face is full of healthy brilliance and her eyes are shining-is staring at the peas and smiling.
