According to the official website of the Shenchi County government, the county has three towns and five townships under its jurisdiction, with one resident office, 122 administrative villages and a resident population of about 76,000 people.

Shenchi County is located in the northwestern part of Shanxi Province, with a unique location, situated in the transportation throat of Jin, Shaanxi and Mongolia, and is the key place for Yanmen, Ningwu and Yitou passes.
