Basha fish is an important freshwater fish in some countries in Southeast Asia. Although it was only introduced to China in recent years, the Basha fish on the market mainly comes from Viet Nam, so fresh Basha fish is still rare, and most of them are sold in supermarkets in the form of frozen fillets. Longli fish is a kind of fish off the coast of China. Both fresh fish and fillets are sold.
It is difficult for ordinary people to tell the difference between Basha fillets and Longli fillets. Many Basha fish fillets on the market are sold as Longli fish fillets, or directly, Basha fish is Longli fish, but the nutritional value and price of the two are quite different. Let's first understand the difference between these two kinds of fish.
1. Different living environments
Basha fish belongs to river fish, and Longli fish belongs to sea fish. Basha fish is an important freshwater fish in Southeast Asian countries, belonging to catfish. Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and other places are cultivated, mainly in the Mekong River basin. Longley fish belongs to the bottom fish in China's offshore waters, which has the characteristics of wide temperature and salt range, adaptability to changing environment and tolerance to hypoxia.
2. Different growth shapes
Basha fish is similar to ordinary freshwater fish. Its body surface is flat without scales, its head is flat and wide, its abdomen is white and narrow, and it has fish whiskers. Because it belongs to catfish, it is similar to catfish. Because arowana grows on the bottom of the sea, the pressure of seawater is high, so its body is flat and its eyes are longer than one side of its body. It belongs to the family Cynoglossus, and is also called tongue fish and grouper because it is flat and tongue-like.
3. Different nutritional values
One belongs to freshwater fish and the other belongs to marine fish, so the nutritional value is definitely different. The biggest difference is being fat. Basha fish has a thick layer of fat under the skin, mainly saturated fatty acids, but Longli fish has less fat, and it is a marine fish itself, mainly containing unsaturated fatty acids. Unsaturated fatty acids are healthier for people.
4. Different prices
Generally speaking, the price of Basha fish is about ten yuan a catty, and frozen fish fillets are still a few dollars a catty, while Longli fish is about a catty in 60 yuan, with better meat quality and more expensive, and frozen fish is several times more expensive than Basha fish, which is why many people use Basha fish as Longli fish in the market.
The meat quality of these two kinds of fish is the same, especially the meat quality is tender and delicious, and there is no muscle thorn. Fish is neither old nor crisp when cooked for a long time, and it grows completely according to people's needs.
The difference between Basha fillets and Longli fillets.
It is really easy to distinguish two kinds of fish when they are fresh and intact, but it is difficult to distinguish them when they are peeled and boned to make fillets, which is why many of them can be confused with the real ones, but the nutrition and price of the two kinds of fish are very different.
It can be distinguished from the following aspects.
1. Look at the thickness. Because Basha fish is a freshwater fish, it is fat and beautiful, so the fillets made will be thicker, while Longli fish has a flat body, and a fish can only pick out one fillet, so Basha fish fillets are thicker than Longli fish.
2. Look at the color, the meat of Basha fish is tender and white, and the meat of Longli fish is white and red. Whether it is frozen or fresh, Longli fish will have a little fish red.
3. smell the smell. I learned that Basha fish grows in river water, so it has a heavy muddy smell. Frozen fish fillets are usually wrapped in ice cubes and soaked in water-retaining agent to prevent fish from drying out and losing nutrients, and the taste is not tender. At the same time, it also masks the muddy smell of Basha fish. So if you smell heavy alkaline water, it is generally Basha fish, while Longli fish grows in the sea, with little fishy smell and no peculiar smell.
4. Look at the label. If it's really hard to identify, go to a regular supermarket and buy a labeled one. If the label says Longlife, Vietnamese, Cabaca, Barcelona and so on. It's Basha fish, and Longli fish is usually clearly marked, so when you buy it, just buy a labeled one in the regular channel.
